David Hicks, MDIA, is the principal of David Hicks, an internationally acclaimed interior, building and garden design studio founded in 2002. He is assisted by a team of Interior Designers and Architects providing design experiences for private residences, residential developments, hotels, restaurants, retail stores and offices.
Hicks is known for his attention to detail and the constant evolution of his trademark; modern luxury. He is a highly regarded authority on design and is regularly called upon for speaking and judging engagements, most recently serving as a judge on the Australian Channel Nine network’s Interior Design series, “Home Made”.
With an eye for detail, interest in architectural space and the decorative, David has created a unique sensibility which he applies to all his projects. No two projects are the same yet all have an underlying commitment to excellence and quality. These unique attributes and skills have combined to build a reputation for David as one of Australia’s leading designers.
Hicks’ constant international travel and understanding of the decorative arts and furniture enables an extra edge to his design work while also providing clients access to his treasured finds. Whether it a rare antique or vintage piece of furniture or monumental ceramic urns for the garden, his discerning eye has enabled him to build up an enviable international list of contacts and suppliers.
David spent his formative years in Malaysia, growing up as an expat in Kuala Lumpur, attending the English School. Upon his return to Australia, senior study led him to his passion for Architecture and Design. After settling on a career in Design, David was accepted to study his Bachelor of Arts in Interior Design at the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT) graduating with honours.
