Dream Farmhouse in the Heart of Texas

Dream Farmhouse in the Heart of Texas

Originally a Texas old house belonging to the 19th century Classical Revival era, as it was later discovered to have been built around 1895, this charming, cozy and deftly remodelled farmhouse is the ”home, sweet home” of Chip and Joanna Gaines, the owners of Magnolia Homes and the hosts of the HGTV show entitled ”Fixer Upper”. Magnolia Homes is an award-winning remodelling business based in the small yet idyllic town of Waco, Texas and a member of the National Association of the Remodelling Industry (NARI). Magnolia Homes is centered around its founders vision to inspire Texas residents to take ownership of their living and working spaces and add value where they are planted. Offering both residential and commercial remodelling and design services, Magnolia is a ” southern grown and locally sown” business combining the awe-inspiring talent, flair and artistic eye of Joanna Stevens Gaines, the Lead Designer with the exquisite craftsmanship and expertise of Chip Carter Gaines, Construction and Real Estate Lead. With an impressive experience spanning 15 years during which they have designed and remodelled over 200 homes, the dynamic and visionary duo also takes pride in their one-of-a-kind farmhouse where they live together with their four children and many farm animals, including goats which have won Joanna s heart.

Joanna and Chip Gaines were married in 2003 and had lived in nine different homes prior to purchasing this property in 2012, particularly drawn by the imposing and magnificent oak trees surrounding it. Adamant on making their dream of living on a farm a reality, the couple spent a year and a half meticulously and passionately renovating and reconfiguring the original space in order to preserve intact the very essence and idiosyncracies of this old-styled farmhouse, while ensuring optimum functionality and comfort for all their family members. Joanna s strategically planned interior design was directed towards transforming the original two-bedroom house into a contemporary living space that fully accommodates the modern lifestyle and residential needs of their family of 6, without compromising the timeless feel of the old style, quirky structure.

The only addition was the master bedroom, which stays true to Joanna s straightforward preference for fresh, simple yet unique interior design and a timeless, visually evokative look. Brimming with industrial pieces that lend a nostalgic feeling for life as it used to be back in the old days, the master bedroom with its soft, neutral palette and subtle contrasts between the all-white ceiling, light gray walls and wood flooring is a romanticized old-fashioned space, reminiscent of Scarlett O Hara s s quaint bedroom.
