Cozy Meets Eclectic: Get Design Inspiration from this Unique Wisconsin Home
Do you want a home interior design that is equal parts creative and cozy? Then you’ll absolutely love the design of this Wisconsin home!
Combine warm textile wall hangings, found pieces, and decorate each room to balance between comfortable and eclectic can result in a look for your home that you’ll absolutely love.
One of the things to take away from this Wisconsin home design is the slow approach to interior design. Megan Schlachtenhaufen says that many of their furniture pieces were found on Craigslist and she’ll take other approaches while looking for the perfect piece of a room. Have an ugly chair? Megan threw a cute sheepskin over hers until she found something more ideal.

Megan’s living room is glowing with warmth thanks to the cozy paint on the walls that is somewhere between yellow and tan. Just selecting a warm and neutral color for a communal living space is guaranteed to brighten up the mood of the room.
Add a woven hanging wall piece, an art print or framed canvas to the wall, some books on top of a light cabinet or shelf, and a few plants or metallic accent pieces, and a round mirror, and you’ve got a living room that feels lived in and inviting. A leather footrest and interesting chair do not hurt either!
Make your living room stand out by placing a black entertainment system in an all-light themed room. This will give your living room some much-needed contrast. Place some wicker baskets underneath as a foil (they also are great storage solutions). Throw up some framed art behind the television and add some potted plants, and you’ve got a living room that you’ll never want to leave.
Megan also made her hallway space come alive. Painted white slatted walls create openness while a wooden bench with colorful throws and potted plants add life and color. A furry throw on the bench adds that eclectic touch, and the rustic cloth carpet, wooden beam floor, and wicker basket and pussy willows to the other side of the bench complete the space. Hooks allow for storage and hanging, and framed photos on the improvised mantle add that cozy feel.
Lighten up an eating area like Megan by placing a colorful patterned rug under a rustic wooden table with metallic chairs. Then go sultry in the bedroom with a dark paint (she used Raccoon Fur by Benjamin Moore, a dark charcoal/navy that looks almost black). Dark metallic lamps, deep wooden furniture pieces, a fluffy chair and plenty of artwork paired with a light bed and a few wall accents, and this bedroom is sleek, sophisticated, and fun.
