What better setting is there for a couple but living in their very own place? The husband and wife behind the New Darlings blog have come up with a home sweet apartment unlike any other. Southwest-inspired with a flair for minimalism, a smart sense of style, the feeling of life sprinkled throughout the Phoenix house- it’s simply impossible not to enjoy every single day waking up in this haven!
Charmed by the South
Robert and Christina Martinez lived in the south during their first years in Arizona, and moved a few months back to central Phoenix, and chose to live in a casita. Being both minimalists, pristine white walls and neatness is evident within the home. Influenced by the bohemian style, unconventional and artistic, the ambiance creates a distinction with mostly wooden pieces, plant life, and various natural materials with earthy tones.
The living room presents the brown color of wood, matched by the comfy couch, baskets, wall hanging and decors. The patterned rug breaks the plain appearances, while books, photos, and personal items give the room a personal touch. At first glance, you’ll instantly get the impression of a stylish space, yet the creative duo produced one that elicits a relaxing vibe anyone would wish to have at home.
Even the dining area is a place to relax as you sit on the round table with similar earthy ambiance, set across the sliding door where light softly passes through. In the bedroom, white furniture, sheets, and no unnecessary clutter give off an inviting place to unwind. You just can’t help sink your feet into the thick carpet and lay on the clean bed covers!
A Darling Home
The design-focused couple encourages to keep things natural, bring in pieces you love, and show your personality. Keep in mind never to overdecorate, no matter how many things you’d love to add, for it’s no surprise that less is definitely more. This likewise allows for balance, in line with varied heights, shapes, and objects across the rooms.
The New Darlings also advice that it’s best to keep work and personal lives separate, such that it means all business upon each one entering their designated office. Other than that, each room serves its purpose well and everything around them is calm and pleasing.
The plant life, whether in pots, vases, woven baskets, or hanging, arriving in different sizes and shapes of leaves and different species, put in all the right places are certainly contributors to the relaxed, breathable atmosphere.
