This Scandinavian loft is where modern edginess comes to play with elegance in a modest and quaint fashion. With the use of warm lighting and avant-garde furniture, this small loft is more than what it seems: its entrance is of luxury, yet true elegance found within its walls.
Corners and blunt edges can be a difficult thing to work around when there is limited space, but luckily this loft tackles the issue with the classic combination of dark flooring and light colored surfaces. Because there are funky protrusions in the wall, hanging decorations is unnecessary—instead, paintings, candles and everything else are placed on the sills directly. Light, both in natural and unnatural form, is crucial for keeping this loft from appearing cluttered and tight so the asymmetrical placement of windows and warm lights is an interesting and valuable touch. The kitchen area includes a black dining chair, and it is in this space that we find a tasteful play of colors, in the form of metal and silver toned furniture (the fridge, oven, sink, etc). The single window in front of the sink is directly oppposite of the window in the living room, thereby ensuring that the most amount of light floods the space. Books, decorative figures and other trinkets fill every crack and crevice possible, and the geometric edges makes organizing and decorating a rather creative (yet not challenging) puzzle.
The living room is a quiet and calming area with white fur rugs and heavy use of wood in the furniture and flooring. One can simply imagine spending lazy hours here, drinking from a hot mug of tea while enjoying the view or white-colored television.
Perhaps the most inventive room of all, however, is the bathroom, where even the outer walls of it are unique in style: a washed-down wallpaper of books gives the impression of coziness, which greatly contrasts the bathroom itself where minimalism plays out best. Built in shelves for soaps, a delicate plant to decorate the area around the bathtub, and the latest in technology makes a quick bath before bed the greatest and most relaxing experience of the day. The bedroom is small, but pale colored walls and bedding do their part to liberate the space. Here again, we find warm lights clipped over the headboard for pleasureful reading.
The loft also has its signature on the mini balcony outside, where the heavy use of dark-toned wood contrasts the luxurious cream hues of the marble table and cushioned couch that offers splendid views over the city’s pastel colored roofs.
This loft is where the cosmopolitan can settle into peaceful simplicity at the end of the day. By keeping its style minimalist, this space offers nothing short of warmth, elegance and comfort all cozily wrapped into an urban bundle.
