Modern Cycladic Interior With A Sense Of “Invisible” Luxury

Modern Cycladic Interior

Modern Cycladic house on Mykonos, Greece, by Zoumboulakis Architects.

The house consists of six separate buildings arranged on the plot in relation to its natural surroundings. Essentials of the study were the maintenance of existing landscape elements such as existing stone walls which run across the plot and the rock gardens, the uneven terrain and the strong north winds, and the implementation of the project brief. Emphasis was given not only to the buildings but also to the open areas and passageways created between them, to orientation, light, the view and to the axis of the West. The layout of the space is flexible and follows the architecture of the buildings, while maintaining a sense of “invisible” luxury, comfort and simplicity. The layout, materials and colors were chosen to facilitate the transition from indoors to outdoors, unifying them.

Project architect at Zoumboulakis Architects: Lia Kanagini
