As a professional photographer, Anna Malmberg has a natural talent for knowing what looks good both off and on camera. Judging by her latest photographs, the interior of her house is seemingly no exception. While at first glance these photographs might look like some stylish never before lived in show home, it might surprise you to know that they actually capture Malberg’s Stolkholm family residence which she shares with both her fiancé and son.
Designed by Malberg herself, the interior of this spacious house successfully manages to infuse a bohemian style with a vintage modern twist. While the walls are predominately white, allowing plenty of light to maximise the illusion of space, they are not too overbearing so as to take away any character or indeed a sense of homeliness from any of the rooms. This has been cleverly achieved by installing plenty of trendy accessories such as quirky wall hangings, unique photographs and copious amounts of patterned soft furnishings (to name but a few). The inclusion of quality wooden flooring, along with both rustic and whitewashed wooden furniture, also brings much needed warmth to the largely white colour scheme.
Malberg has also incorporated a lot of vintage items, such as a rustic bedside lamp, a weathered mirror and a retro pram which has had the effect of giving her house enormous amounts of character. In a style that is largely simple in terms of colour scheme and furnishings, Malberg has rightly recognised that the inclusion of vintage items injects much needed character, warmth and individuality into what would otherwise be a rather lacklustre and boring interior design. The lack of consistency between these items, such as the mismatched colour of the wooden furniture for instance, also helps to create a sense of homeliness and a general ‘lived in’ feel into this unique style.
While some might look upon Malberg’s quirky design as a patchwork quilt of too many random things, many more will no doubt come to appreciate what Malberg has managed to achieve; chiefly that her house is bright, fresh and full of character. Yes the house does include many odd accessories, poorly matched furniture and an abundance of the colour white, but in its randomness it has achieved a unique sort of style that manages to be both modern and on trend.
Overall, the home is organized, creative chaos that offers all that cross its threshold a true glimpse into the creativity of Anna Malmberg. Everything has a place, but there is nothing rigid or traditional within the home. The home showcases a beautiful marriage between chic and vintage that exudes love and comfort. The dream catchers adorning the walls and the unique standing panels open up the space within the cozy little home in a dynamic way.
For those with a unique way of viewing life while remaining true to their inner child will be able to draw inspiration from the design choices displayed in this home. With unframed artwork caressing the entirety of the home, you are left feeling as if you visited a trendy coffee house with friends. The eclectic blend of the décor leaves you with an increased feeling of inspiration paired with sense of inviting warmth.
In a world of rigid rules and standards, the décor within this home delivers an escape into comfort.
