Ever wish that you could douse your home in minimalism and charm? This amazing traveller’s house might just be your new inspiration.
Located in Berlin, Germany, this house designed by Annabell Kutucu in collaboration with Michael Schickinger, is a poster child for gorgeous minimalist design. The spaces are large and airy, with either light or dark toned themes. Take the living room, which exits to the balcony courtesy of high doors and windows accented with long dark brown drapes. Simple wooden furniture and a tall shelving unit open up this room for tons of space.
You can also go bright with a vital wood panel flooring, providing contrast with darker hued furniture and striped pillows. Add texture and style with a variety of woven pillows. Mix and match for some patterned fun that doesn’t overwhelm the space.
Bring an all-white walled room to life with darker, antique furniture. Simple furniture in a basic room is a great minimalist approach that works every time. Or you can add some metallic, simple furniture accents like a gold lamp and simple shelves to fill up a room, standing some framed art on top of it.

The living room is minimalist but relaxing and cozy thanks to a brown leather couch in the center. A giant metallic lamp in the corner and a simple blue chair for sitting provide seating options without clutter.
The dining room also really stands out. This amazing room is shades of every brown imaginable, and it works. The hanging wicker lamp is a huge centerpiece for the room. Everything else– the brown walls, the large white-framed windows, the wooden table and seats– plays second fiddle to this amazing lamp. Add a few plants on the table to keep the room from being too monochromatic!
You can also change things up in the bedroom with dark charcoal walls, a black bedspread, black lamp, rustic wooden side table and white pillows. For such dark tones, it seems surprisingly inviting and comfortable, proof that dark tones can be more than just dramatic or edgy. Add metal shelving against the walls for organizational and aesthetic purposes.
You can also transform a bathroom by making everything dark toned except for the shelves. The presence of more dark tones than in the bedroom does provide a sleeker, reclusive feel. The tub room echoes this mood, with all charcoal gray creating a minimalist retreat you’ll want to visit again and again. Keep a few wicker baskets by the tub to hold towels, soaps, and bath things.
Lastly, we have the kitchen. Hanging black lamps and metal shelves contrast with a white and wooden rustic theme. You can add white tiling to the cooking area to offset any dark or wooden accents you have going on. All in all, this traveller’s home is minimalist paradise.
