It’s easy to related Scandinavia with a culture and a group of people at a certain part of the globe. But when it comes to interior design, Scandinavian-inspired themes emphasize on simplicity and functionalism. The beautiful home of fashion and lifestyle blogger Kristin Sundberg is a perfect example. In fact, it is so simple that the interiors are splashed with almost nothing but white! Of course there are a few black and natural shades incorporated in its furniture and decor, but the white color is just so dominant, and yet utterly breathtakingly beautiful.
Anything DIY is a trend nowadays. You see a certain look you want to achieve? Find an alternative or create your own. Like for this house, the white interior is quite easy to replicate. The floors and walls can be painted white and this is something you can easily do on your own. The great thing about it is that it does not have to look perfect. The little missed spots make it all the more interesting. As for fabric items within the room, just replace seat covers, pillow cases, and lamp shades in white. It does not have to be pure white, but it would be highly recommended that it be the main color.
Looking at Kristine Sundberg’s Scandinavian abode, you will also see how she used gray and black to create more drama without making it the center of total focus. The black and white photographs look great. It breaks the monotonous color of the walls without dwelling too far from the theme and color scheme. Also, the gray fur throw and black and white rug adds texture to the smooth-like appearance of the blanc walls and flooring.
If you are planning on a Scandinavian-inspired home, you don’t have to be paranoid at keeping the black and white scheme. There will be items with color that will be used inside and it is perfectly alright. As long as you are able to maintain the simple lines and designs while making sure is functional and useful, then you have successfully achieved the look you are going for.
