Subtlety is most certainly at the heart of this small, cozy apartment by studio LOKO. Every minute detail of this home has been carefully crafted and perfected to make effective use of limited space, while offering not just physically stylish and modern rooms, but a mental space where one can be undisturbed and focused on whatever task is at hand. This is why the apartment’s subtle touches in decoration are the most defining features—the use of brick as a material is done unconventionally, transforming even the bathroom’s wooden flooring into a brick-styled design, while faint details of a forest on the bedroom walls subtly creates the effect of calmness. There are no blatant statement pieces in this room, and instead the details do the talking. Bedroom pillows have the design of foreign letters printed on them to evoke romantic, simplistic moods, while the constant use of small, green plants keeps all corners of the house looking fresh.
However, amongst the white walls and nature inspired decor, there lies a quiet warmth that emanates particularly from the kitchen and living room space. These areas use yellow-toned lights and medium-colored wood to inspire cozy winters bundled up with a steaming cup of tea. The curtains here are of an angelic, translucent white to not obstruct the illusion of openness, and things are kept simple and modern with minimalistic black bar stools and unique bookshelves. The deep colors found in the living room are a unique touch, as they do not break the color scheme, yet inspire a distinctly creative mood unlike the rest of the apartment. With a brown cow rug and low-level black sofas, this space offers the same tranquility found elsewhere, yet in a more social manner by the use of a TV and stereo, along with a friendly wooden coffee table. These subtle touches naturally call upon you to strike up a conversation while enjoying the simple pleasures of life in this modest apartment.
Ya quisiera yo que mi “pequeño piso” fuera tan “PEQUEÑO” como ese!!!!!
I’m interested in your painting technique for the brick. I have brick in my kitchen that needs an update and I like yours.
