Decorating With Berry Hues and Mustard Colors

Deep mustard hues and dark shades of red like berry are on trend this season when it comes to decorating. There are several ways to use these two striking colors in any room of your home. If you’re thinking of updating your decor wit berry hues and mustard colors, here are a few ideas to get you started.

For the living room, mustard and berry throw pillows can make the room look inviting while adding a visually appealing color contrast. This works especially well if you have a gray or tan sofa. If your living room is decorating with white or tan furniture, a berry-colored or mustard area rug gives warmth to the space and makes the room look bigger. Of course, you can also add deep yellow or berry shades in the form of curtains, which gives the living room a regal look.

In the bedroom, a berry chaise, mustard reading chair or sheets and comforters that feature both colors can make the space look welcoming and relaxing. A distressed wood dresser or nightstand in either of these shades works well in the bedroom, too. Creating an accent wall by painting the most prominent wall a deep mustard color is also ideal if your walls are white. Or, you can add berry-colored wallpaper that is easy to remove to the accent wall.

Berry and mustard work great in the kitchen, too. Small appliances in these colors, such as the blender, can opener or microwave, can make a sterling silver or all-black kitchen look even more interesting. Small area rugs for the front of the refrigerator, stove and sink in mustard or berry are a colorful contrast against neutral-colored tile floors. Adding a centerpiece on the breakfast nook that includes a clear vase with berry or mustard synthetic stones adds texture to the kitchen as well.

These are just some of the easy and stylish ways you can add berry and mustard tones to your home this season. Mixing and matching these design tips can help you achieve a decorative look in your home that is beautiful and original.
