A water cleaning station located in Villefranche Sur Mer, French Riviera turned into a stylish living space.
Built in the 1900s, the structure housed a water cleaning station, fully operational until the early 1970s when it was shut down and the building abandoned. That is how it remained until Philippe Tondeur, a retired Belgian pilot, purchased it and together with Belgian interior designer Bernadette Jacques spent the next 15 years on its conversion into what it has become today, a luxury residence with unequalled views of the Mediterranean.
The industrial heritage of the structure has been left intact in the sensitive redesign of the vast interior area of 5.400 sq.ft. in addition to the 700 sq.f. guest apartment. The preservation of the exposed pipework and beams into the spectacular loft like spaces has created a unique identity for the home, in particular in the bright living space with all round views and the giant metal artifacts which contrast sharply with the elegance of the contemporary furnishings.
