Rustic and industrial house in Rural, Italy. Since turning her home into a beautiful hideaway in the Italian countryside, Hanne and her family have had no shortage of guests.
‘When we found this place, it was basically just a roof and walls. No one else would buy it because it was so run-down and in the middle of nowhere. I saw the potential though – for me, the uglier the house, the bigger the challenge. It took a year to do all the work and it was very hard. There were no trees here, and the house didn’t even have water or electricity.
After a lot of hard work, Hanne finally made her rebuilt paradise the breathtaking living space that it is now, and she and her boys can finally call Italy home – much to the pleasure of their many house guests!

Hanne has employed some clever bedroom ideas, including a tasseled curtain as a headboard, low-hung ceiling lights instead of table lamps, and stacked suitcases in place of bedside tables.
