The new H&M HOME fall and winter home collection for 2016-2017 promises to be “contemporary, peaceful, and elegant” and highlighted by the use of raw materials such as natural wood.
The collection distinguishes itself with a focus on soft versus rough textures and the use of natural colors that appear to be shaded or weathered over time. The collection also cleverly uses accessories and accents to highlight the contrast between the urban lines and the elegant shades.
The collection blends contemporary and vintage aspects with the Scandinavian style characteristic of H&M home collections. Geometric patterns and decorated weaves can be seen in many H&M prints, reminiscent of Scandinavian folklore. These patterns can add both depth and character to a room, especially when used in textiles for such as rugs and cushions. A new feature of this collection is the use of “chic rural” elements, which has been described as mixing the minimalist Shaker American style of the past with elegant floral patterns or motifs to provide a sense of warmth and welcome, which compliments the touches of natural wood pieces throughout the collection. Clear bowls, cutting boards, and small wooden boxes crafted from natural wood can be noted in the collection.
