The Incredible Summer House of The Head Of IKEA

If you’ve ever desired to be in a country home where you could have a direct contact with nature, you should take a look at Lilla Torpet. This home was re-designed by owner and  head of Ikea in Spain, Lorenzo Meazza.

During a short stay in Sweden, he became fond of the Swedish culture, traditions, and the cool natural environment of the Nordic forest. Even though he worked in the city, he constantly sought for a pristine, remote place where he could easily relax and connect with nature. He finally found Lilla Torpet – which means cottage – a rear gem hidden in a lush Swedish forest.

Amazingly, this remodeled home was originally constructed in the latter part of the eighteenth century. Several generations of farmers have lived in this home, with little modification. But Meazza was the one who added electricity, water and a modern bathroom. He renovated the house using a combination of three inspiring colors: beige, snow white and a unique teal tone. These colors are commonly used to paint furniture in this area. They transmit vibrant energy. He also placed a mirror in a strategic position that reflects the forest.

The kitchen occupies a vital position in the house. As you can see, it has a bright inviting appearance – produced by a white wall and floor. It also has a lot of white furniture and a few raw wood pieces. The beautiful dining table is surrounded by a nice carpet. This carpet provides warmth for those who like walking around bear foot – a popular Nordic custom.

If you look closely, you would see a path of candles on the stairs leading up to the bedrooms. This is also a peculiar Scandinavian tradition. The children’s room has a bright colored fairly tale place. You can see a bedside chest containing games and fairly tales to provide fun and excitement for the kids when they can’t go out to play.

Meazza’s master bedroom is designed, with cool tones, using the same type of wallpaper used in the dining room. But this one has a blue color. White bed covers were used to maintain the same color theme used in other important parts of the house.

If you love the serene atmosphere in the woods, you could sleep in this kind of bedroom and wake up to a unique kind of stillness. Only the occasional sounds of birds, squirrels and the swishing of trees will break the silence. This is a refreshingly peaceful place.

  1. Beautiful, cozy & oh so peaceful. I could live there forever. Looks good for the heart & soul.

  2. It’s a beautiful house, but the interior and decoration is as non-Swedish or non-Scandinavian as it can be. Swedes never decorate like this. These colours are just foreign to us. And that candle-thing I’ve never even heard of.
