Hope Favor Charity begins at home! This is a phrase that has lived for years, and many people have proven this to be true. For instance, one Aniko Levai, a blogger, an interior designer, and also the founder of Place Of My Taste, is a good example. Place of My Taste is a blog that mostly highlights the interior design ideas, along with other related stuff. Aniko Levai is practicing what she preaches, and this is seen in her perfectly designed home. Aniko Levai considers herself a modern homemaker, exuberantly managing everything she can possibly do. From teacher and photographer to interior designer and mother- she has all the multitasking attributes in her. Well, hold your horses- that is not all! She also possesses a classic style with a newfangled twist, and believes a family home can be comfortable as well as stylish at the same time.
Having grown up in one of the world’s most beautiful capitals Hungary, she moved to the U.S. about 14 years ago and began a family business with her husband. They both had two things on their “must-have” list while house hunting- privacy and location. And you will be astonished to know that when they found this isolated home, it was a totally different space than it is now. As a young family of four, life for Aniko was chaotic and busy, and so fun and function were top-of-her-mind when it came to designing this space.
Step inside her home, and you will see pops of vibrant colors in each room. Layering textures and color is something she never shies away from, and offering her kids a fun space to feel good and free is what her idea about home is all about. Wondering what is more to it? Well, she loves to bring in and infuse different styles! Yes, the classic style that reverberates with her the most and they, as a family, feel wonderful living in it. So what shall you call it? Eclectic? Well, that is certainly a hard one to say because all her things are so inspiring!
Whether it is the bedroom or a breakfast nook, no space is free from recycled furniture, handcrafted pallet furniture, printed photographs, art pieces and flower pots. Even outside in their backyard, handmade accessories make up the fabric of their everyday lives. Despite her busy life, and some of the more apparent annoyances of the household such as, two smaller living rooms instead of one big room, having an exclusive space in which the entire family can feel happy and comfortable is her preeminent priority.
About the home
Levai has practically designed the entire house along with the help of her family, and she integrates all her talents and hobbies to make the home as stylish and elegant as ever. Levai has created the artwork hanging on the walls herself, and she also includes toys to blend with the style perfectly.
With the dedication to her family, Aniko includes soft textiles for the quality time with her husband and kids. The entire house has a blend of styles, but Aniko is a great lover of colors and textures. Her blend of style touches on some bit of rustic charm and some taste of Bohemian as well.
The elegance of the rooms
Aniko points out how she enjoys her cozy and comfy living room. Even though it could be where she enjoys her time with her family, you can notice the elegance of the room. She has moderate-class leather sofas, which are filled with plenty of pillows. The flooring is an engineered wood, which is kept warm by a thick fabric rug. The coffee table and other furniture blend perfectly with the sofas.
How beautiful can a house filled with artwork be? You can just imagine that, but Aniko is living it. As a painter and a photographer, she has the paintings and other photos piled in one section and hanging all around the white-painted walls.
She also points out that the bedroom is also her favorite room. The king size bed has a luxurious studded velvet head, and Aniko piles several pillows just to add more glamor to the room. You can’t fail to love how the sheets and the covers blend elegantly.
To add to the coziness and sophistication of the rooms, Aniko includes plenty of plants all around the house. As she knows how plants freshen the house, she chooses plants that need less attention, as well as a bunch of fake plants. For the real and live plants, she has snake plants, succulents, Pothos, and fig trees.
What inspires her design?
Aniko is not afraid to share that she follows top interior designers on Instagram, like Amber Interiors and Emily Henderson. She shops for her home stuff at HomeGoods and Target. For the super glamorous pillows, she shops them at World Market, IKEA Pillows, and H&M Urban Outfitters. The rugs and carpet are from Rugs USA, IKEA, and World Market.
Wondering how does she manage it all? Well, nothing is too valuable and precious in Aniko Levai’s home- except for those whom she shares her space with! She plugs in the pastoral charm, a bit of bohemian, and an excitable feeling to her overall deign.
